Dean of Students & Restorative Trainer/Facilitator
Jason Smith is currently the Dean of Students at Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville, IL. Jason started at Dundee-Crown in August 2015. He is charged with shaping the collective climate and culture of the school and engaging others in building a positive school culture. Additionally, Jason is an active transformational leader in the area of Restorative Practices. He is often called the Zen Master, due to his peaceful positivity. Jason has been a trainer, facilitator, and practitioner of Restorative Practices for over 10 years and is still evolving in his craft and love for the organic process of building community and repairing harm. Jason is also an advocate for building a positive and equitable climate and culture within the school and community environments through the use of mindful awareness and disruption of unbalanced systems. Prior to his tenure at Dundee-Crown, Jason was the Behavioral Interventionist at Irving Middle School in Maywood, Illinois. Jason was part of a team that fully implemented Restorative Practices successfully into the school and neighborhood community. Before working at Irving Middle School, Jason taught first grade at The Einstein Academy, a gifted school in Elgin, Illinois for ten years.
